One of Taiwanese catering groups would like to hire a talented individual , Mr. C from Hong Kong who specializes on management consulting services in the Food & Beverage industry. However, Mr. C has family members who will accompany him including two little babies who both need a nanny to take full time care of them. Part of Mr. C’s relocation package is that the company shall apply for all of their residency visas in addition to Mr. C’s Taiwan work permit approval in order for them to move to Taiwan.
The HR department is worried if the whole family members’ ARC’s could be obtained smoothly as there are so many regulations they need to go through but it seems really hard for them to collect all of required documents for the whole family during a short time. EZ Permit received an enquiry from an English client who we will refer to as Mr T, requesting advice on the possibility of being able to obtain a permanent Taiwan residency visa to enable him to live in Taiwan.
An interview was set up via Skype in order for Claire at EZ Permit to assess his extensive background and working experience. As a result of the interview Claire suggested that he would most likely be eligible to obtain a Plum Blossom Card. This would enable him to live permanently in Taiwan and if he chose to find employment he would automatically qualify for the issue of a work permit.
Mr. T was happy to send to EZ Permit all of the required documents regarding his qualifications and working experience which would be needed to support his application. Upon receipt of which Claire began the task of translating everything into Chinese. This took a great deal of time as Mr T had worked for over 40 years in the aviation field. This meant that his engineering licences from several different countries and the letters of recommendation from previous employers were extensive.
Finally Claire had everything prepared and invited Mr. T to come to Taiwan for a meeting and to go through with him everything contained in his application. Also Mr. T would need to add his signature to each of the translations and to the formal application form.
Claire had already been in contact with the Taiwan Immigration department to discuss Mr T’s application and so she was fully conversant with the whole process. She had also set up a formal meeting with the department and she accompanied Mr T for a preliminary interview the day after Mr T arrived in Taipei.
During the interview Mr T was asked various questions both on his managerial experience during his career and also on his reasons for choosing Taiwan as his destination to live and possibly work. Mr T was happy to provide details on both subjects and the result of the interview was very positive, however Mr T was advised that all applications for the special Plum Blossom Card had to be reviewed by a special committee which only met once every two months and so the processing time for his application was likely to take quite some time.
This proved to be the case as on three consecutive committee meetings one particular member continued to request further details concerning Mr T’s application. Each time such information was immediately provided and finally with the help and determination of Claire the application was approved and Mr T was requested to pay a final visit to the Immigration department for the presentation of his Plum Blossom Card.

A Passport is a personal official Government document and should not be given to anyone unless the holder is traveling or in an emergency. A person holding the dual nationality of Malaysia and Australia was faced with the problem of obtaining her husband’s ARC as a dependent in Taiwan. The problem was rather complicated as her husband also had two Passports, Australian and Hong Kong. They were married in Malaysia which further complicated the problem, and had both entered Taiwan on their Australian Passports. Taiwan Immigration department required that for her husband to be classified as a dependent that their marriage must be authenticated by the Australian authorities.

Finally on reading the report Mr. O decided to go back to Germany to try to find suitable work. After his departure the EZ consultant maintained contact with him and soon after his return to Germany he was offered a position as a German consultant to work in China. Although the EZ consultant could not provide Mr. O with assistance in finding suitable employment in Taiwan, but their relationship provided a good platform for positive interaction. This gives them the opportunity to discuss the possibility of cooperation between the different industries in different countries in working creatively in an environmentally friendly way.
Most local companies in Taiwan of course know exactly how to hire Taiwanese employees. The process with employment contracts and insurance sign-ups etc. runs smoothly and efficiently. But how about applying for work permits and alien resident certificates for foreign employees? Many Taiwan companies don’t need to employ many foreign employees and therefore they are less familiar with this process.

An international company in power and automation technologies needed to assign on an urgent basis a group of contract engineers to work at its facility in Taiwan. This would involve making the necessary applications for both work permits and subsequently ARC cards for all of them.
